SOLERI PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE by azhttp

VIEW PLANS FOR A NEW SOLERI PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AND PLAZA, OCT. 10. The City of Scottsdale and Scottsdale Public Art are in the process of designing an artist-commissioned pedestrian bridge to cross the Arizona Canal adjacent to Scottsdale Road and an entry plaza to the canal walkway along the south side of the canal. Join us for an Open House between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 at 7120 E. Stetson Dr., Building A, Level 3, just west of the Marshall Way Plaza. At the Open House, you can view preliminary plans, get your questions answered by members of the design team and provide comments. The bridge and plaza will make pedestrian connections between 5th Avenue, the Waterfront, and the Scottsdale Road residential and commercial developments. The area will provide a park-like setting for visitors and residents, as well as an area to experience the design work of one of Scottsdale’s most noted artists — Paolo Soleri. Mr. Soleri and his design team have helped develop plans to create a place with shade and seating areas, providing a welcome setting for people to relax, play, and enjoy the canal bank. The largest bell form ever produced by Mr. Soleri will hang from 22-foot pylons in the plaza for people to touch and enjoy. For more information contact Bill Peifer, project manager, at (480) 312-7869 or BPeifer@ScottsdaleAZ.gov.
