SJN is a non-profit community group of business leaders and volunteers. We are not a job placement forum, and we do not match candidates to openings nor do we send resumes to employers or recruiters. There is no guarantee of employment either directly through this group or as a result of association with SJN.

We do, however, provide education in the job search process and all attendees have the opportunity to meet and work with people who offer support and guidance during employment transition. Scottsdale Job Network (SJN) is a group of job seekers and others volunteering their time to help them in their career transitions.

The group attracts speakers from industry, technology, government, finance, coaching and recruiting to discuss job search fundamentals including developing a marketing plan, writing a resume, networking and interviewing.

The value of the SJN lies in the skills, business networks and personal passions of our members. Membership is open to everyone willing to share their skills and anyone interested in local networking or in need of employment transition support. Attendance is required at one meeting to become a member.

Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM at Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032.

Scottsdale Job Network is planning a Beach Party (without the ocean) at the Tuesday, July 3 meeting, 9:00 A.M.-12:30 P.M.

 

Members are encouraged to leave business attire at home.  Arrive early (9 AM) for networking and socializing–come dressed in casual clothes.  Shorts, sun dresses, floral shirts, patriotic colors, plus sun glasses and straw hats are the preferred dress code!

 

Stay after the business meeting for a deli lunch (no charge and donations accepted) and more networking-socializing!

PHOENIX, AZ – A free day to play for everyone 55 and over! That is what the 2007 Maricopa County Fair is offering seniors this year. Opening day of the fair, Wednesday April 11, has been officially designated as Seniors Day. Admission will be free to visiting seniors.

A day full of fun to help celebrate “It’s Showtime” is in store for all visitors. Lots of great entertainment is scheduled. Daily shows by Skip Banks the Balloon Man, Madame Zelda’s Puppet Circus, Terrell & Takako – Jugglers Extraordinaire and Doggies of the Wild West are just some of the lineup.

Two stages will be filled with dancers, school bands, local musicians and other community acts. “We are currently booking barbershop quartets, sweet Adelines, square dance groups and other specialty acts,” says Carolyn Siebrand-White, Seniors Day Coordinator. “We are thrilled to offer the fair to seniors for free.”

As a special treat, everyone 55 and over will receive a free carousel ride from 10am to 2pm. “Thanks to Butler Amusements, the fair is able to offer Seniors carousel rides at no charge. Come on out and enjoy the fair, the food, the entertainment, the exhibits and even the carnival,” says Michael Searle, Executive Director.

Senior Citizen Centers are encouraged to bring busloads of residents and participants.

Incumbent manages the homebuilding operations which include the Construction and Purchasing functions of the company. Manages all aspects of these functions including planning, budgeting, finance, contracting, developing business plans, interacting with corporate executives and other Company personnel. Manages the Vice Presidents of Construction and Purchasing, and interacts with outside local and state government officials in the process of homebuilding. Assists the President of the Company as requested.

¨ Ensures the construction of quality homes within company standards

¨ Ensures policies, procedures, and organizational philosophies are maintained in order to meet Company goals and objectives.

¨ Manages production, inventory and G&A for the functions for which incumbent has responsibility. Creates business plans and forecasts.

¨ Attends hearings for proposed projects and meets with various government officials

¨ Hires, assigns, manages, motivates and terminates (when called upon) management personnel who report to the incumbent. Reviews work performance and participates in the salary process including raise recommendations

¨ Provides the President and other corporate executives with periodic reports and makes presentation when called upon, with regard to homebuilding activities. The incumbent must stay current with all new homebuilding issues, especially in the Construction and Purchasing areas for which incumbent is responsible

¨ Must control construction costs and ensure that projects for which incumbent is responsible are completed on time and within budget

¨ Describe the level and frequency of contact of this position with other departments, as well as with outside groups or organizations: Incumbent interacts daily with Company personnel and will a number of outside organizations, government agencies, suppliers and sales people
