Youth Learn Healthy Choices at Community Event
A program called Mi Vida, Mi Alma, Mi Corazón (My Life, My Soul, My Heart) is making a positive difference in the lives of local Hispanic girls and young women.
Recently, 108 participants attended a free program at the Paiute
Neighborhood Center to build a foundation for making healthy choices.
The program objectives are prevention of dangerous Internet activity, gang participation and substance abuse. The girls and teens attended
informational presentations, team-building exercises and activities designed to bolster self-esteem and health of mind, body and heart.
Participants also had an opportunity to meet several female Scottsdale
police officers. Funded through the Police Department’s asset forfeiture funds, this program was sponsored by Scottsdale Prevention Institute, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale and Scottsdale’s Police Department, Parks and Recreation and Youth and Family Services.
