Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane announced this week that the McDowell Road Corridor/South Scottsdale Economic Development Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 18 at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road.
Mayor Lane had promised to hold such a summit and make this area a priority during his mayoral campaign, and also in his inaugural speech. “As I said during my inaugural speech, south Scottsdale is full of vibrant, strong neighborhoods and involved residents, but economic development in the area continues to lag.
One of my key priorities is changing that, and this summit is an important part of that,” said Mayor Lane. The summit will be free and open to the public, and people are encouraged to attend. The summit will cover a number of topics and will include top-notch speakers with diverse backgrounds and interests.
More information and an on-line registration form are available on the city’s Web site at www.scottsdaleaz.gov. The link to summit information is on the left column of the home page.
Information also is available by calling the Mayor’s Office at (480) 312-2433. Seating is limited, so interested citizens are encouraged to register. A tentative agenda for the summit will be posted on the city’s Web site by next week.
