Residents are invited to an open house from 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10 toview preliminary plans for a proposed pedestrian bridge and entry plaza
along the Arizona Canal adjacent to Scottsdale Road.
The open house will take place outdoors on the Marshall Way Bridge, located at the intersection of Marshall Way and fifth Avenue.Participants will be able to view plans, ask questions of the design team
and provide comments.
The bridge and plaza will make pedestrian connections between Fifth Avenue, the Waterfront, and the Scottsdale Road residential and commercial developments. The area will provide a park-like setting for visitors and residents, as well as an area to experience the design work of one of Scottsdale’s most noted artists — Paolo Soleri. Soleri and his design team have helped to develop plans to create a place with shade and seating areas, providing a welcome setting for people to relax, play and enjoy the canal bank. The largest bell form ever produced by Soleri will hang from 22-foot pylons in the plaza for people to touch and enjoy.
