Scottsdale senior citizens are invited to free health screening from noon to3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 N. ViaLinda. The screening is part of the “2 Fit 2 Fall” campaign to reduce falls
and injuries among the elderly.
The screening includes hearing, vision, fall risk and blood pressure checks.Speakers also will give 10-minute presentations on medication interactions,body mechanics, nutrition, in-home safety, foot care, proper footwear and
how to decrease fall risk through good balance.
The 2 Fit 2 Fall campaign is a collaborative effort by the Scottsdale FireDepartment, the Scottsdale senior centers and Scottsdale Healthcare toeducate seniors on the steps they can take at home and in their personal
lives to reduce their risk of falling.
As part of the effort, the Scottsdale Fire Department is launching Home SafeHome, a program where trained volunteers visit seniors’ homes to conductvisual inspections and educate homeowners on fall hazards. If homemodifications are needed, SFD can refer the resident to nonprofit
