A five-month roadway and parking lot improvement project is under way at the Scottsdale Airport. The project is divided into three phases. Completion is scheduled for early January 2008 — in time for the busy winter season. All businesses in and around the airport will remain open during construction. When completed, the project will result in a new three-lane, one-way roadway system in front of the terminal building — one drop-off lane and two through lanes. Parking improvements include a new terminal parking lot with 112 spaces and the reconstruction of the parking lot in front of the Aviation Business Center building with 164 spaces. Phase 1 includes the temporary closure of Airport Drive north of Butherus Drive. Traffic heading northbound will be detoured through the current airport terminal parking lot. Scottsdale Airport had almost 197,000 operations in 2006 and is one of the nation’s busiest single runway airports.
