City Continues Concentrated Programs to Revitalise Community by azhttp

As part of the Scottsdale Neighborhood Revitalization Program, City staff has

maintained their community outreach efforts to keep neighborhoods and alleys

free from garbage, overgrown vegetation, construction debris and other

blight issues. During fiscal year 2006-2007, staff from Solid Waste

performed 9,958 refuse container and 14,275 recycling container inspections

to reduce cross-contamination. These inspections resulted in 4,484 tagged

containers for unapproved items and 2,354 tagged containers for unclosed

lids, “bag and tie” and/or overflow issues. Additionally, 315

revitalization brochures were distributed, 202 illegally abandoned tires

were removed and 184 illegally abandoned shopping carts were removed.

Personal contact continues to be a cornerstone of the revitalization efforts

– Solid Waste staff logged 1,482 personal contacts with area residents last

year alone.
