Response from Pink Taco to naming of University of Phoenix Stadium
PINK TACO STADIUM OR UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX STADIUM: WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER?
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA. – While the Cardinals did not see green in Pink Taco’s stadium naming rights offer earlier this summer, the uber-hip Mexican restaurant will continue to pursue and evaluate local and national sponsorship opportunities that have flooded restaurant ownership since the Pink Taco Stadium offer.
Pink Taco rocked the local and national sports and media worlds last month when they announced a 10- year, $30 million offer for the naming rights of the NFL’s newest facility. Their announcement kicked off an outcry of public support in which thousands of Pink Taco supporters called or sent emails to the team encouraging a partnership with Pink Taco.
“The community’s support was amazing,” said Harry Morton, president and CEO of Pink Taco. “While we think Pink Taco Stadium would have created more buzz and publicity for the facility, we applaud the University of Phoenix for recognizing the great marketing opportunity Cardinals Stadium is.”
Morton is at Pink Taco – Scottsdale today filming a segment for Extra, and is available to discuss Pink Taco’s Cardinals Stadium naming rights pursuits.
The $5 million check presented to the Cardinals and Pink Taco Stadium logo have been on display at the restaurant since the August press conference announcing Pink Taco’s blockbuster offer.
The Morton Family founded the destination restaurant concept. Originally with Hard Rock Café, and now with Pink Taco, the Morton Family conceived the concept of dining entertainment and pop culture cuisine. Harry’s father, Peter, recently sold the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for $770 million. He previously sold the Hard Rock Café for over $400 million. And Harry’s grandfather founded Morton’s Steakhouse.
Pink Taco is a rapidly expanding restaurant empire opening its third location this February in Los Angeles.
Pink Taco Scottsdale is located at 7135 E. Camelback Road at the Scottsdale Waterfront. To reach the restaurant, call 480.675.7777 or visit www.pinktaco.com.
