DINING CARS BACK ON TRACK HOSTING RAILROAD PARK EVENTS
Scottsdale’s McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park has new places to host birthday parties and meetings.
Two rail cars donated by the park’s non-profit partner, the Scottsdale Railroad and Mechanical Society, have been placed near the birthday area. One of the cars will be used for children’s birthday parties currently held at the park ramada.
This past year, the park conducted 258 birthday parties for 3,972 children. The car will provide a climate-controlled experience as well as the opportunity for children 3 to 8 years old to have their birthday in a real train.
The other car will be renovated and used for meetings, lunches and dinners, as well as fundraising events such as a “Dinner in the Diner” event. Most of the renovation cost is being funded by the Society. The cars will replace the two cabooses currently in the birthday area which will be moved to the eastern entrance of the park for use as an entry feature after Indian Bend Road is widened next summer.
