SCOTTSDALE HEALTHCARE PARTNERS WITH CITY OF SCOTTSDALE TO PROVIDE STATE-OF-THE-ART FITNESS CENTER AT AQUATIC FACILITY. The Scottsdale City Council on Monday, July 10, approved a unique sponsorship agreement between Scottsdale Healthcare and the city. In exchange for naming rights of the fitness center at the soon-to-be-open McDowell Mountain Ranch Park & Aquatic Center, Scottsdale Healthcare is supplying $150,000 worth of state-of-the-art fitness equipment and health and fitness classes. The proposed name chosen for the facility is Scottsdale Healthcare Fitness Center at McDowell Mountain Ranch Park and Aquatic Center.
Each piece of equipment will include a medical wellness component, which will act as a virtual trainer to users. If fitness center patrons wish, they can purchase a “key” for a small fee, which enables the TechnoGym equipment to track their performance. Scottsdale Healthcare personnel can then use that information to design individual workouts for each person. The city will own the equipment and Scottsdale Healthcare will manage the database and software in addition to occasionally conducting classes for the public in the facility. The fitness center at McDowell Mountain Ranch will be open to all citizens for a fee of $2 per use. A small additional fee will be charged for those patrons who wish to use the “key” to track their performance or work with a Scottsdale Healthcare professional. The sponsorship agreement will run for three years and has an option for renewal. The partnership between Scottsdale Healthcare and the city fits with both agencies goal of helping to promote a healthy, active lifestyle among citizens.
Construction of the McDowell Mountain Ranch Park and Aquatic Center and the new fitness center, located at Thompson Peak Parkway and McDowell Mountain Ranch Road, is scheduled to be complete in early September.
