RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO HELP PREVENT HEAT-RELATED ILLNESSES
Arizona is one of the hottest places in the country from June to September and heat-related illnesses are common during this time. Nearly 800 people are admitted to hospitals each year because of heat-related illnesses. Those at greatest risk are children under 4, adults over 65, people who are overweight and people who are ill or on certain medications.
Residents are encouraged to be on the lookout for those susceptible to heat-related illnesses. Check on neighbors, particularly if they are elderly and/or disabled, and make sure that their air conditioning systems are working properly. For more information or assistance, please call or visit:
